Ongoing market monitoring

Development Monitor - what is Germany building?

The evaluation of 23,000 projects under construction, in planning or completed between 2019 and 2026 proves that project developments in Germany are not only taking place in the large cities and their surrounding areas, but also in the periphery, with high volumes. As expected, the developers of logistics space are the ones with the highest overall volumes. With 70 million sqm, residential is still the most important type of use.

This is shown in a brief study based on the Development Monitor with data as at 31.12.2022. The Monitor enables numerous evaluations of the German institutional project development market by year, location and/or segment.

At the end of 2022, there were listed:

Total project volume: approx. 186 million sqm
- Number of project developers: approx. 8,000
- Number of projects: 23,438
of which completed: approx. 11,300 | under construction: approx. 5,400 | planned: approx. 6,700
- Over 200 profiles of project developers

The data is continuously supplemented and updated.
